District Team Lead Laurie Montanaro demonstrates our core values in everything she does and we’re thrilled to recognize her for 25 incredible years of service!

Laurie began her self storage journey in 1984, working with a private storage owner. But it wasn’t until 1998, when she joined Storage USA, that it became her long-time career. In 2005, when Extra Space acquired Storage USA, Laurie became part of the Extra Space team. She was excited about the company’s reputation, values, and dedication to treating its employees well.

Helping people is something Laurie loves about her role. She often finds herself in situations where she can assist customers in times of need. The ability to positively impact someone’s life is one of the most fulfilling parts of her job. This dedication is evident in her interactions with customers and in her role on the team.

Jim Klein has been Laurie’s District Manager for the past three years and attests to her ability to make everyone feel welcome and part of the team.

“Laurie does an excellent job providing a welcoming and friendly experience to every new hire she trains,” Jim shared. “She is always ready to help, whether it’s customers, peers, or the management team. After meeting Laurie, I quickly learned that she is the matriarch of the district, providing support in the traditional ways as a leader, but also as a friend through almost any other challenges her teammates face. And she isn’t afraid to tell you the truth with a little Jersey flare.”

Witnessing her team’s growth and professional development fills Laurie with pride and satisfaction.

“I’m proud to be a District Team Lead,” Laurie shared. “I love watching new employees learn and grow with Extra Space, and I am proud to be a part of their growth.”

Her commitment to fostering a supportive work environment and cultivating the professional growth of others is a testament to her outstanding leadership skills.

“I feel lucky to have Laurie on my team,” Jim continued. “She consistently demonstrates our company values, especially Passion and Teamwork. I look forward to having her on the team as Extra Space continues to grow by leaps and bounds.”
