Each month at Extra Space Storage, we recognize employees who go above and beyond in caring for our customers with our Customer Care Award. We’re happy to announce Lamone Lewis as the August 2021 recipient.

In today’s digital world of online customer reviews, it’s not often that we receive thoughtfully written letters to commend excellent customer service. But that’s what happened after a customer’s interaction with Store Manager Lamone Lewis.

Lewis manages an Extra Space Storage facility in Santa Rosa, CA. Recently, on a busy evening near closing time, Lewis didn’t hesitate to provide the very best experience for this new-to-storage customer, even though the appointment went past office hours.

“Having had no prior experience with storage facilities, I had no idea of how to choose between the different sizes and locations of units. Lamone took the time to show me the available units and describe the pros and cons of the different locations. He also took the time to clarify—and to make sure that I understood—the terms and conditions before I signed off on the contract…All this was happening after closing time, which was another indication to me that Lamone took seriously his responsibility as manager to see to his customers’ needs, even if it meant he had to work late.

“Every time I went to the storage yard after that initial visit, I had additional opportunities to observe Lamone interacting with other customers, both on the phone and in person. He showed the same degree of respect to each person, displayed the same professional yet friendly attitude, and took the time to describe in detail what the options were, making sure that each person had an opportunity to have all his or her questions answered before hanging up the phone or walking out of the office. It was also clear to me that Lamone took a certain ‘pride of ownership’ by maintaining the facility in such a well kept manner.”

Lewis’ patience and willingness to teach this customer the specifics of self storage had a lasting impression.
