Great experience and very easy to unload and get items into the unit. The employees there were also very helpful and available when needed.

I rented a unit at Extra Space Storage because I needed convenience and flexibility during a stressful move, but the experience has honestly been more aggravating than helpful. I was contacted and threatened with having my lock cut and being charged additional fees because the lock was apparently “not secured properly.” The problem is that when I first rented the unit, nobody was there to actually show me how the locking system worked or verify it was set up correctly. Now, despite explaining that I physically cannot get there until Tuesday because I live an hour away, management was completely unwilling to work with me or offer any reasonable grace period. Instead of listening or trying to help, the employee I spoke with just repeatedly cited “corporate policy” and showed zero empathy or flexibility. So now I have to unexpectedly drive an hour just to avoid extra charges and unnecessary hassle. For the amount of money these units cost, customers should not be treated like inconveniences. Storage is supposed to reduce stress during difficult transitions — not add more of it.

Before renting at Extra Space Storage on Snyder Ave, compare prices with Public Storage at 135 Industrial Road in Berkeley Heights, located just about a block away and less visible from the main road. I found their starting rates to be significantly lower. My experience with Extra Space Storage included much higher pricing and additional cleanup related charges that I strongly disagreed with. I would highly recommend shopping around first because there are more affordable options nearby with a more straightforward experience.

Public Storage at 135 Industrial Road in Berkeley Heights offered significantly lower starting rates compared to my experience with Extra Space Storage at 310 Snyder Ave. Many people may not realize there is another storage facility located just about a block away because it is less visible from the main road. I strongly disagreed with how the situation was handled and found communication with management, including the district manager, to be extremely unprofessional and unhelpful. Before renting here, I strongly recommend comparing nearby options first. I found much lower rates and a smoother experience at Public Storage located at 135 Industrial Road, Berkeley Heights, NJ. Take the time to compare prices, fees, and policies before signing any agreement because there are more affordable options nearby.
