Let me start with the positive: the staff. That's the only reason I'm giving Extra Space Storage 3 stars. The staff gets 5 stars — always helpful and friendly. But ... when I rented a 5x5 space a little over a year ago, I was paying $34.12 with tax. Four months later, they increased my rent by 100%. Doubled it. No explanation. (There was no "1st 4 months at half off" special.) Nine months later, I got a notice they were increasing my rate by 63%, to $108.76. For a 5x5 storage unit. I moved out of there yesterday (icked out by all the silverfish bugs and little spiders in my unit). The guys in the office were great. They also showed me a stack of postcards from customers who moved out because of the price increases. So ... beware of the great pricing that lures you in. Price increases at self-storage facilities are random and common on monthly rentals, but I'm told that Extra Space's increase are well outside the norm.
