We had a 78% participation rate in our most recent employee engagement survey, and our overall engagement index score was 2% higher than the U.S. average. Employees appreciate our management team’s transparency, encouragement of work-life balance, and ability to motivate everyone to bring their best to work forward.
In the same engagement survey, Extra Space Storage employees replied higher than the U.S. average on diversity and inclusion questions like “Extra Space makes it easy for people from diverse backgrounds to fit in and be accepted” and “I am comfortable voicing my ideas and opinions, even if they are different from others.” In 2021, CEO Joe Margolis joined other top CEOs in America to sign the CEO Action For Diversity and Inclusion Pledge—a commitment to continue workplace conversation about diversity and inclusion.
