When two Extra Space Storage Board of Directors members recently found themselves needing self storage, it’s no surprise they both ended up at Extra Space Storage facilities—one in Oceanside, CA, and the other in Arlington, VA.
Coincidently, neither member initially disclosed their connection with the company. While they’re members of the board, at that moment, they were simply two customers in need of storage. They weren’t looking for any special treatment or favors based on their company status. Not coincidently, however, the outcome of their individual experiences was the same—exceptional!
Anyone who has interacted with one of the thousands of team members across the country knows that exceptional customer service is part of the Extra Space Storage experience. Both board members were so impressed that they reached out to CEO Joe Margolis to share their experiences.
“We have terrific employees representing Extra Space Storage. It was a great customer experience. The facility was absolutely spotless, and the team was professional and friendly.“
“The employee helped me carry the 35 boxes that I bought to my car. I guess she felt sorry for the old guy. She was great and shared with me how much she loves the company.”

In a thank you note to recognize Quinonez and Lopez for a job well done, Margolis wrote, “Thank you for providing great customer service and living our values. Your efforts and hard work are appreciated, and I’ll be sending a small token of appreciation your way!”
Margolis shared the experience in a company-wide news update and continued, “Thank you to everyone who works hard to take care of our facilities and customers. We have an exceptional team.”
