Christine Cygan, Store Manager
Christine Cygan started in storage as an Assistant Store Manager but was quickly promoted to Store Manager six months later when construction on a new nearby facility was complete. She takes great pride in maintaining a store that wows customers for looking so new despite being 23 years old.
“I was drawn to Extra Space because I am interested in people and like working with them,” Christine shared. “I enjoy hearing customer stories and finding ways to solve problems that make their lives easier. I’ve found over the years that Extra Space has that same focus on the customer, so it’s been a beautiful fit for me.”
Being in the industry for so long can be challenging as the economy goes through ups and downs. Christine has always put forth the extra effort to help customers with choices when the economy is down and money might be tight. That effort shows as she consistently has one of the top-performing stores in her district.
Christine’s efforts don’t stop at her store or with her customers. She also raves about her Extra Space teammates and leaders over the years and goes the extra mile to support them. She has worked as a district scheduler for many years and appreciates how the team always pulls together to support each other.
“Christine is an incredible teammate that is always willing to go above and beyond to help nearby stores,” said District Manager Chris Getty. “With her wealth of experience and expertise, there is no challenge she can’t overcome. I’m so thankful for having her on our team. She makes all of us better!”

Miriam Justiniano, Store Manager
Miriam Justiniano started in storage 25 years ago at a Storage USA property, which Extra Space Storage later acquired. She was introduced to storage by someone she worked with at a previous job. She knew nothing about storage, but it seemed interesting, and with her background in customer service, she knew she would enjoy that part of the job.
It turns out she was right. Her favorite thing about working for Extra Space is creating a positive customer experience.
“I have had the opportunity to see so many repeat customers who come in and greet us with a big smile and are happy to see a familiar face. I’ve even seen customers’ children grow and their lives evolve,” Miriam shared. “Those experiences have made me realize the impact of having a positive attitude no matter what—even if you’re having a stressful day. Now with online rentals, I have fewer opportunities to connect with customers. So, when I do, I really try to make it count.”
Miriam’s store is in a small town where many customers didn’t even know it existed. But with company growth and a more significant online presence, she’s witnessed a drastic change in occupancy compared to her early days on the job. She’s enjoyed seeing the company grow over the years, expand the benefits offered to team members, and create memories with peers and leaders through company town halls and other team-building events.
While the job can be challenging at times—balancing different situations that come up with customers—Miriam has found the best way to help is to be transparent with expectations, show empathy, and make the storage process as easy as possible.
“Despite her unassuming countenance, Miriam is a bright spot in our district, shining a light on our core values of Passion, Integrity, and Teamwork,” District Manager Andrew Elliott shared. “Her willingness to help and genuine appreciation for her customers is obvious, and she sets a strong foundation for our team. With 25 years of experience, she’s seen and done it all—always with the utmost intentions for what’s right for her customers and the business.”
