CEO Team of Excellence Winner Spotlights: Josh Dandridge, Karen McCadden, Ken Wieme, & Lionel Berryhill

Each year, Extra Space Storage recognizes a group of exceptional team members with the CEO Team of Excellence award. These outstanding individuals are chosen by leaders from across the company based on their remarkable accomplishments in the previous year and their commitment to upholding company values.

In addition to our annual announcement of these deserving winners, we wanted to give each one their moment to shine. We asked each honoree to share fun facts about themselves and their experiences at Extra Space Storage. Below, we’ve highlighted four winners and what they had to say about their time at the company.

Josh Dandridge – District Team Lead

Josh Dandridge - District Team Lead

Josh is an avid sports enthusiast. He grew up playing baseball and cheering for his hometown team, the San Francisco Giants. He has an affinity for number crunching and extensive knowledge of baseball statistics. So much so that his wife often says he should pursue sports broadcasting. In addition to sports, Josh enjoys visiting family in California and Wisconsin, returning to Lake Tahoe, where he married, and visiting Maui, one of his favorite locations! Josh describes Extra Space as one big family where everyone is cheering each other on to succeed.

On the Extra Space value of Excellence, Josh shared: “Excellence is important to me because I constantly challenge myself to surpass goals being set. I strive to provide an excellent experience for all customers and thoroughly enjoy friendly competition with my peers, as well as it brings out the best in all of us.”

Karen McCadden – Store Manager

Karen McCadden - Store Manager

Karen loves physical activities like camping, hiking, kayaking, recreational target shooting, and skating. A unique fact about Karen is that she has been in 32 car accidents, only three of which were her fault! Karen encourages new store managers to practice the sales process daily because being comfortable with it will set them up for success. She describes working at Extra Space as an adventure—no two days are the same, and her local customers help keep things fun and interesting!

On the Extra Space value of Integrity, Karen shared: “Integrity means doing the right thing at all times and in all circumstances, whether or not anyone is watching. Building a reputation of integrity takes years, but it can be lost in seconds. The value of trust that others have in you is far beyond anything that can be measured. So do what is right and let the consequences follow.”

Ken Wieme – Store Manager

Ken enjoys going on adventures and spending time with his wife and their 15-year-old cat, Yaoman. One summer, he acted as a minor league baseball mascot, Jack the Jackal, at New Jersey Jackals home games. Ken subscribes to the power of positivity and believes positive energy can help you succeed. It’s also highly contagious to everyone around you, including teammates and customers. He appreciates the camaraderie shared between stores within the company since much of his work is done independently.

On the Extra Space value of Teamwork, Ken shared: “Our success at Extra Space is not driven by any single individual’s performance but by the efforts and contributions of the entire team. Being surrounded by a team that strives to be the best versions of themselves encourages me to perform at my best every day!”

Lionel Berryhill – District Team Lead

Lionel trained in professional fighting in his twenties at one of the best academies in the world, American Top Team. After professional fighting was legalized, he scored the first KO victory in the history of Charleston, SC. Lionel is passionate about finding ways for those struggling with mental health to get support and reach a place of peace in their lives. He encourages new team members to enjoy the journey, especially during difficult times.

On the Extra Space value of Innovation, Lionel shared: “Innovation is so important to me as it aligns directly with my personal drive and dedication to make changes and improvements and to push the boundaries and barriers of what has been done. I love to do it like it’s never been done before and at the highest level of excellence.”
