Each year, Extra Space Storage recognizes a group of exceptional team members with the CEO Team of Excellence award. These outstanding individuals are chosen by leaders from across the company based on their remarkable accomplishments in the previous year and their commitment to upholding company values.
In addition to our annual announcement of these deserving winners, we wanted to give each one their moment to shine. We asked each honoree to share fun facts about themselves and their experiences at Extra Space Storage. Below, we’ve highlighted four winners and what they had to say about their time at the company.
Melany Williams – Sr. District Manager
Melany Williams loves music! She’s an accomplished piano player and a former percussionist skilled in over 100 percussion instruments. Beyond her musical talents, she’s taught her dog more than ten tricks and her cat an impressive three. At Extra Space, Melany feels right at home, surrounded by individuals who share her values and motivate her to be her best. For those looking to succeed at Extra Space, Melany’s guidance is simple—keep the company’s core values at the heart of every action and navigate your path using the culture compass.
On the Extra Space value of Passion, Melany shared: “One of the reasons I joined Extra Space was because our core values aligned with my personal values. My parents taught me how to be passionate about life and always said if you’re going to do something, give it your all. When you are passionate, you find purpose, which drives you to persevere.”
Nick Jaggi – Talent Development Specialist
Nick Jaggi accelerated his education by completing two and a half years of school in a single year to earn his HR degree. This achievement prompted him to transition from a 15-year career in the airline industry to a new role at Extra Space. Influenced by his time at an airline, Nick developed a love for travel, with Thailand, Scotland, Switzerland, and Brazil ranking among his top destinations. He has set a personal goal to visit all the Seven Wonders of the World. Offering guidance to newer team members, Nick emphasizes the importance of caring about others—treating colleagues and customers alike with the same respect you’d want for yourself.
On the Extra Space value of Passion, Nick shared: “To me, passion means, one, taking pride in what you do, and two, finding joy in what you do. Being passionate shows in the quality of your work and the quality of life at work that you create for yourself and for those around you.”
Robert Tyrone – District Manager
Robert Tyrone is an avid outdoor enthusiast who loves hunting, fishing, and camping. He has been a dedicated member of the Extra Space team for an impressive 15 years, and what he values most about the company is its commitment to innovation and the abundant growth opportunities it offers. He suggests that his new teammates absorb as much information as possible and strive to improve each day, as a lot will be shared relatively quickly.
On the Extra Space value of Integrity, Robert shared: “Integrity is important to me because during my time at Extra Space, I’ve spent much of my time alone at sites. To be successful is all based on what you do when no one else is around. It’s how you run your location and complete things daily by doing the right thing.”
Stephanie Bragg – District Manager in Training
Stephanie Bragg is from Georgia and holds a particular fondness for Orlando, making it a point to visit attractions like Disney World or Universal Studios at least once a year. Within the professional realm, Stephanie encourages her fellow team members to actively invest in their personal development, emphasizing the importance of asking questions and acknowledging mistakes. To Stephanie, the value of Teamwork is vital.
On the Extra Space value of Teamwork, Stephanie shared: “No one person has all the answers all the time. We can only learn, grow, or sometimes get through the day by working together and relying on each other.”
