Each month at Extra Space Storage, we recognize employees who go above and beyond in caring for our customers with our Customer Care Award. We’re happy to kick off our 2022 awards by announcing Richard Batson and Patti Cardoza as the January 2022 recipients.
Richard Batson, Assistant Store Manager
If a class could teach you the desire to be customer-focused, Richard Batson, an Assistant Store Manager in New Braunfels, TX, would get an A+. After only his second week at Extra Space Storage, this is what one customer shared after working with Batson.
“Richard was amazing. I taught customer service at Southwest Airlines for over thirty years. Richard hit it out of the park. He was knowledgeable, friendly, and engaging. We went to another storage facility closer to our home when we were shopping for a unit. The closer unit was $10.00 more a month, but what really brought me back was Richard’s customer service. The other unit’s employee wasn’t helpful and the office wasn’t very clean. Y’all’s office was spotless.”
Batson’s customer-focused attitude is what we seek out when looking for someone to join the Extra Space Storage team, and we are truly grateful to have found him.
Whether storing the contents of an entire home, family heirlooms, artwork, or other cherished belongings, we want our customers to trust that someone cares about the items they place in storage. This customer explored options, but Baton blew away the competition by taking the time to listen and engage. He showed that he cares, and in this case, that level of service provided peace of mind and made a few extra miles worth the drive.
Thank you, Richard Batson, for bringing your top-notch customer service skills to Extra Space Storage!
Patti Cardoza, Customer Service Representative
The need for self storage varies from person to person, and we don’t always know when customers are experiencing a welcomed or challenging change in their life. Knowing what to say or how to respond when a customer shares their challenges may stop some Customer Service Agents in their tracks. But that’s not so with Patti Cardoza.
“Patti went way over the top to help me with my lease paperwork. I was actually in the middle of having a chemotherapy session and wasn’t able to do the paperwork by myself. So, thank you 1,000 times! Thank you!”
Cardoza identified this customer’s need for support and took action right away. Keeping customers at the center of each interaction makes it easier to identify and respond to their needs. And sometimes, even the simplest of gestures can make a huge impact.
Thank you, Patti Cardoza, for taking care of our customers. We appreciate you 1,000 times too!
Each month, outstanding team members are recognized as the Customer Care Award recipients with a company-wide announcement and sent a personalized care package from the Extra Space Storage Customer Experience team.
