Each quarter, we give out the EXTRAordinary Employee of the Quarter award. These aren’t given to people who just do their jobs. They’re awarded to those who go above and beyond in demonstrating our core values, and the nominations are submitted anonymously by other employees, team leaders, or entire departments.
Below are the EXTRAordinary winners from Q2 2021, featuring the nomination statements from their peers!
Kim Wetzel – District Manager, Chung Division
“Kim Wetzel manages one of the most challenging districts in all of Southern California. Her market is comprised of sites located in urban/inner-city markets that face many difficult challenges. While the stress could be overwhelming for most, Kim has demonstrated a great deal of resilience by continuing to overcome adversity and demonstrating a fighting spirit to tackle the issues as they surface. Kim has worked diligently to be proactive and reactive to the circumstances and has worked tirelessly at all hours to be an ambassador for Extra Space Storage. She has maintained a positive attitude and is steadfast in her approach, which has transcended to her employees. In addition to all this, Kim has also worked very hard to finalize plans and steps to rebuild a portion of a site in her district that sustained severe fire-related damages last year. Great work Kim, thanks for everything that you do!”
Tammika Hernandez – District Manager, Parisi Division
“Tammika Hernandez has proven to be one of the most efficient and consistent DMs in all the company. She is on top of everything and has to deal with the many challenges of New York City properties, including many third-party owners, but always seems to get the answers. In such a short time, Tammika not only has mastered her position but constantly has the numbers to prove that she is the best. She motivates and pushes each of her sites to do their best and, at the same time, manages to keep a positive attitude. I can speak for many in saying I’m proud to work for her and support her in every way.”
David Cibula – District Manager, Anastacio Division
“Dave Cibula has been instrumental in our district! Dave is extremely hardworking, he is a team player, and his passion for Extra Space Storage is inspiring. He fully encompasses our core values! Dave is always available to his peers for advice or just to chat. He has been a huge part of our divisional success and will continue to be. Lisa Anthony – Team Lead, National Sales Center
“Lisa Anthony is the team lead to look up to. Lisa has gone above and beyond to help her team grow and focuses on helping them become the best sales agents they can be. Lisa is very transparent with her team and can help them learn and change for the better, giving fair, balanced, and constructive coaching. Lisa shares what she knows, and for anything she does not know, she will work with the team to figure out an answer. In addition to helping her current team, Lisa is an amazing mentor to new Team Leads and helps them whenever and however she can. Lisa is a great example of Teamwork, Excellence, and Passion.”
Deanna Stevenson – Commercial Property Administrator, Store Support Center
“When I first acquired sites with retail spaces, there wasn’t a definitive process for commercial tenants at the district level. Initially, it was tough, but the process went very well when Deanna came on board to assist. Deanna is proactive in seeking out new commercial tenants through various forms of advertising. Once we find the right tenant, Deanna jumps right in with getting the lease and terms set up. She is very responsive to questions or concerns, so an answer is never too far away. Deanna’s help is greatly appreciated and makes the commercial rental process very smooth. Thank you for all you do, Deanna!”
Brad Rohbock – Data Engineer, Store Support Center
“Brad Rohbock joined the data management team as a Junior Engineer 18 months ago. He has a passion for using data to help our internal customers gain insights into business problems. Our team has recently expanded, adding three new employees, and Brad has been integral in explaining legacy processes and data jobs to his new teammates. Brad has also expanded his skill set to learn a new technology stack, Microsoft Azure. He is always willing to help anyone on the team and works with other business users to ensure the quality of the data we provide. Brad is the kind of team member every group should be lucky enough to work with. He has a positive and fun personality that makes Extra Space a great place to work.”

Meghan Breshears – Senior Operations Specialist, Store Support Center
“Meghan Breshears was the face of transitions for Extra Space Storage during recent leadership changes. Not only did Meghan find herself having to keep up with her large workload, but she also took on the leadership responsibilities for the entire transitions team. This included taking on new challenges and working long hours. Meghan managed to lead the team through a change in leadership and a transition of a large portfolio. While taking on all of this increased workload, Meghan also managed to help improve partnerships with fellow support groups and deliver an exceptional product to our customers. Meghan’s performance in Q2 exceeded the expectations of those around her and did not go unnoticed. The amount of compliments she has received from third-party owners is extensive.
