This review is for the Extra Space Storage located at 163 S Rd, Enfield, CT 06082. I am giving 3 stars because my review is actually 2 reviews. FIRST REVIEW: The company, Extra Space Storage: My complaint is with the company's rate increase policy. First, like clockwork, about every 9 months, you will see an increase in your rate and for no justifiable reason. Inflation, deflation, economy good, bad, whatever. An increase at exactly the same time and by roughly the same amount. This increase is not driven by the economy. And they always exceed the inflation rate. Second, so what drives it? The cheap rates to begin with. In other words, the longer you use the facility, the more you are subsidizing that low new customer rates. Third, are they flexible about this? Yes, to a point. If you see a rate increase, you can complain and the local manager MAY be authorized to give to a lower rate increase - but its still a rate increase. You get too many of these authorized deductions and they stop giving them to you. SECOND REVIEW: This facility and its staff: I have stayed at this Enfield CT facility since 2012. I had been working in Connecticut, but, because of COVID-19, I have been working from home far from Connecticut and have not been there since July 2020. I've seen many site managers (who live on site) come and go. However, for the past several years (6 or 7 at least), Kai Pegues has been the site manager. She is excellent and I cannot say enough good about her. The only downside is that she has limited flexibility about decisions due to restrictions put on her by Corporate in Utah. (See above.) This facility itself is pretty good; I don't have significant complaints. I wish they had an unlocked dumpster or other trash facilities because, sometimes, you just need to throw out the some of the smaller crap you had in storage. But, they don't have that and it's understandable. (They do have locked dumpsters likely for emptying a unit.) So, not really a complaint but a nice-to-have. Driving in the facility, one needs to be careful. While it's not the streets of Manhattan or Boston, some days can be a bit busy and there are no street signs or corner mirrors, so somebody could just dart through an intersection and T-bone another vehicle or harm a pedestrian. So, you have to drive very slowly and imagine every intesection has a Stop sign. Also, unfortunately, some places outside a storage unit, the ground just pools water from rain or snowmelt, so you may have to wade through puddles transferring stuff between your unit and vehicle. So, overall, this is a decent place to store your stuff short-term - like a year or two, maybe. I would not recommend long-term UNLESS you cancel your unit and, now that it's free, sign-up for it again! ;) Miss you, Kai!

I have used Extra Space Storage in Enfield, CT a few times. I have always had a great experience with them. Kai, the store manager, is very friendly and helpful, and answers questions with a smile. The facility is well maintained and clean. I would recommend to anyone for their storage needs.

We love this location, easy to get into, we know our stuff is safe, and we love the front attendant Kai she is always so helpful!
