We rented our storage unit to do some remodeling and have a place to store furniture and large items. After a few months we were notified our rates were going to more than DOUBLE within the next 30 days. Hardly enough notice to find a way to finish our project in time and I think it would be fine to raise the rate within that time frame if it were not double. That’s insane. We were going to evacuate, but then our house flooded so nothing we could do. we just paid the rate. After 8 months of remodel from the flood we were finally living at home again and sure enough Extra space storage tells us our rate is going up again! Now by another $30. So we cleared out and are happy to be gone! I feel they are taking advantage of people that already have their stuff there. I understand inflation, but the double price jump in one month was ridiculous. It should have been adjusted rate saying it would increase each month for the next so many months to the new rate. I hope they had a lot of people move out with the price hikes. You can’t have nice enough items In storage to warrant the new costs.you might as well just rebuy it all instead of rent a unit for 6 months.

The on-site manager was great and the spaces are clean. My frustration is with the billing practices. I rented a unit for a 6-months lease term but because I was not sure how long I needed it asked and was assured that after the 6 months I could do a month-to-month no problem for as long as needed. What no one mentioned was that at 6-months and 1-day they were going to automatically increase the rent on my space 25%! I am not unreasonable and I understand that when a lease-term is up they have a right to re-negotiate the terms but I think that 25% in EXTREME especially when (per their advertising) they are still willing to rent that same space for the lower price to anyone else. It's obviously not a supply and demand issue.

I received excellent service from the moment I walked in the door. Up until the day that I moved out. So I don't want this to go unnoticed. I rented my storage at the 8305 S 700 E , Sandy, Utah. I'm not very good with remembering names. But the lady was always a breath of Fresh air to deal with. Always very pleasant and good spirit. She definitely deserves to be recognized and/or Promoted. Because she is a rare gem. You don't find them too often.

The Storage facility is fine. I had a unit on the main row that is more than spacious enough for a Semi to access if you are using the unit to store some items while selling and then moving to a new home. The renting process was super simple and the people were nice. The reason not higher stars is because I think the site I was at does not have onsite personnel during posted times and is reducing office hours to deal with staffing shortages. When I went to move out I had to twist arms to get a person to come open the automatic gate for a Semi to enter. We did not want to rip the gate off the hinges and it would if the gate came down while driving through. The young man at another location had to be convinced I needed this to happen now. The hours on the door did not mention any change in staffing or office hours etc and I had no way to know they were changing plans. I rented here because it was manned and I should not have to barter for service during posted hours. It was very inconvenient as I educated a staffer that moving companies don't just return at a later time. Note to management - don't mind remote staffing just need the tech to support them. A button to open and hold open the gate as needed remotely is a good idea if you are going to staff remote. It was a poor customer experience to wait as a staff member had to drive from a nearby property. Poor communication with clients about the changes and I assume you thought clients would figure it out the hard way.

I am normally not one to post reviews, however, I am happy to do so in this instance. In short, Carrie is incredible, and she deserves recognition. I had planned on spending the day looking at many different storage units in the Sandy area, but we only ended up looking at this storage property. I was so impressed with Carrie’s facility and the customer service that she provided that we decided to get a unit with Carrie right then and there. Carrie happens to be one of the most professional, inviting, and knowledgeable points of contacts for a business I have had the pleasure of dealing with. Right from the start, Carrie could not have been any friendlier, and she took the time to really get to know us and what we were looking for in a storage unit. She set up a great 10x10 unit, exactly what we were looking for and more. She went the extra mile by even sitting down with my brother and I to show us how to use the Extra Space Storage app, and showed us how to open the gate via bluetooth. I would be remiss if I did not mention how much of a perfectionist Carrie is, and that is one of the reasons why her property is so successful. Her property is so immaculate and clean, you can instantly tell she takes great pride in her work. Also, when Carrie was setting up our unit, she realized that it was a little difficult to open to hasp on the unit. Carrie offered to fix this at a time that was most convenient for me, and even took the time to contact me as soon as it was finished. This level of exceptional customer service is hard to find in today’s day and age. To Carrie’s managers at Extra Space Storage, pay her more. Buy her lunch. Cherish the caliber of the employee that you have in her. She is truly an asset to the company, and deserves recognition. And to Carrie, we love our new storage unit, we cannot thank you enough!
