Extra Space Storage recently purchased a new self storage facility at 3617 13th Ave in Brooklyn, NY. Part of a joint venture with PGIM, this property was one of five added to Extra Space Storage’s portfolio in the New York City market, helping to bring the organization’s total number of properties in Brooklyn to ten.
The property was developed over a four-year period by Christopher Barry and Jean Jodoin of LSC Development, another partner in the joint venture with Extra Space Storage and PGIM. Barry and Jodoin also recently completed an Extra Space Storage development in Brooklyn at 155 Empire Blvd.
Located between 36th St and 37th St, this Extra Space Storage location serves residents of Brooklyn neighborhoods, such as Borough Park, Kensington, Sunset Park, Windsor Terrace, and Flatbush, offering everything from reduced height storage lockers to large climate-controlled storage units.
The urban infill nature of this self storage development makes the 13th Ave location an excellent addition to Extra Space Storage’s family of properties in New York City.
Another unique feature of the property is that it was specifically designed with the customer in mind. The property features an interior loading bay that allows Extra Space Storage customers to safely load and unload their belongings inside the building, away from the street and potential inclement weather. The facility also offers entirely indoor access units and is outfitted with a state-of-the-art security system—including video surveillance and electronic gate access—to provide a secure storage environment for customers.
