ABOUT THE SCHOLARSHIP
Nobody is better suited to change the way we look at the world than you, the leaders of tomorrow. You’re not afraid to challenge authority and question the status quo in order to make the world an equitable and inclusive place for all people, no matter their age, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, national origin, nationality, physical ability, race, religion, sexual orientation, or veteran status.
We see what you’re doing and want to make it easier for you to make a difference and achieve your goals with the 2022 There’s Space for Everyone Scholarship. For this program, we will award a total of eight $3,000 scholarships: Five (5) scholarships to any student attending an accredited college or university in the U.S., and three (3) scholarships to employees or immediate family members of Extra Space Storage.
Incoming and current undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in an accredited college or university during the fall 2022 semester are eligible to apply. Applicants must be legal residents of the United States and at least 16 years old.

HOW TO APPLY
To be considered for the 2022 There’s Space for Everyone Scholarship, you must complete the form above and provide a 500-800 word essay that answers the following question:
How will you utilize your education and experiences to make your community a more equal, inclusive place for everyone?
Submissions will be accepted from 8:00 a.m. MT on April 4, 2022 until 11:59 p.m., MT, on May 2, 2022.
Judging Criteria & Awarding of Scholarships
Essays will be judged on content, grammar, style, and originality, with each criterion having equal weight. Judges will look for clear, original, articulate writing that’s logically organized and well-supported.
A third-party agency as well as the Diversity & Inclusion Committee will judge and score each essay based on the judging criteria and award scholarships to the applicants who submitted the eight top-scoring essays.

What is the 2022 There’s Space for Everyone Scholarship?
This scholarship is not a need- or achievement-based scholarship. It’s a scholarship program solely for college students who are passionate about making their communities more inclusive for all people and winners are selected based on their submitted essays.
When will you start accepting applications?
We will accept applications starting at 8:00 a.m. MT on April 4, 2022. The application period will end at 11:59 p.m. MT, on May 2, 2022. Recipients will be announced on or about June 1, 2022.
Does it cost money to apply?
No, applications are free.
Do you accept mail-in submissions?
No, you must submit your application through the online form above during the submission period.
I missed the deadline. Can I still apply?
In order to be fair to all applicants, we do not accept applications submitted after the application deadline. Please be sure to start and submit your application early to avoid missing the May 2, 2022 deadline.
What can the scholarship be used for in my education program?
The funds from the 2022 There’s Space for Everyone Scholarship are to be used for qualified education expenses. This includes tuition, required fees, books, and course-specific supplies.
I graduate in December 2022. Can I still receive the scholarship?
Yes, any student who will be enrolled in an accredited college or university during the Fall 2022 semester is eligible to apply.
Can Extra Space Storage employees or family members apply?
Extra Space Storage employees and immediate family members (spouse and/or children) are encouraged to apply. Extra Space Storage is offering this scholarship opportunity in addition to the joint scholarship partnership with Western Governors University. You can learn more about that opportunity here.
