This year, Extra Space Storage proudly marks a significant milestone—20 years as a publicly traded company! As we reflect on two decades of growth and innovation, we are thrilled to announce that we have once again been recognized by Utah Business as one of the state’s fastest-growing companies, earning a spot on the 2024 Fast 50 list.
The Fast 50 award honors the 50 fastest-growing companies in Utah, based on a combination of five-year revenue and compound annual growth rate. This year, Chief Financial Officer Scott Stubbs accepted the award, celebrating our continued success and resilience in the face of both economic challenges and opportunities.
“We went public in 2004 with 136 properties, and it’s been an incredible growth story ever since,” said Stubbs during his acceptance video. “We grew during the downturn of the Global Financial Crisis, we grew during COVID, and we’ve taken the last year to integrate additional locations and growth through a merger. Now, we’re ready to grow again.”
The past year has been particularly notable as we completed the integration of properties acquired through a strategic merger with Life Storage, solidifying our position as the largest self storage company in the nation. Every team member across the organization has demonstrated a deep commitment to making the merger a success. And despite the challenges that come with scaling an already large organization, we remain committed to growth and innovation, driven by the same passion from the past two decades.
Stubbs highlighted this commitment: “Extra Space has always been a growth story, and we enjoy the challenge and the opportunities that come with growth.”
