Celebrating 25 Years with Shah Jehan

At Extra Space Storage, we know our success is driven by the dedicated individuals who bring their passion and expertise to work each day. This month, we’re proud to celebrate the 25-year work anniversary of Store Manager Shah Jehan.

Shah’s journey in the storage industry began in 1995 when he took a job at Safe and Sound Storage, a small, locally owned facility in the neighborhood where he lived. Having recently moved to the United States from Europe in search of work, Shah was offered the opportunity by a neighbor. Although he didn’t know much about the industry then, he quickly discovered a passion for the job, especially the meaningful interactions he had with people. To this day, whether it’s with coworkers or customers, he values the new things he learns from every person he meets.

In 2000, the facility where Shah worked became a Life Storage property. Years later, that site was acquired by Extra Space, bringing him onto the Extra Space team as part of the Life Storage merger.

“Shah started his journey with Extra Space in July 2023, during the Life Storage merger,” shared District Manager Ty Callahan. “Shah is no stranger to the storage industry, and he has been at his current site for a total of 30 years, where he has been through several acquisitions over the years. Shah definitely has a think-like-an-owner mentality and an infectious positive personality, which he shares with his customers and coworkers.”

Over the past three decades, Shah has experienced nearly every aspect of the storage business. He’s seen tremendous change and growth—from working at a small, independently operated facility to becoming part of a national brand. With each transition, Shah has grown right alongside the industry, building a deep well of knowledge and insight into what it takes to successfully operate a storage facility.

“As I have continued to grow and develop, I am proud of my ability to contribute as a loyal employee and to the success of the company,” said Shah.

For Shah, the most rewarding part of his work has always been the people. Each morning, he looks forward to connecting with customers—whether they’re longtime renters, new faces, or individuals navigating a major life transition. His goal is always to provide a five-star customer service experience, and that sense of fulfillment comes from seeing a customer leave in a better place than when they arrived.

“My work is truly fulfilling when I see a customer feeling better than when they arrived at my site,” said Shah.
