Our green initiatives are widespread, but include a commitment to energy efficiency, eco-friendly transportation, water conservation, waste reduction, and community involvement.

Does Extra Space Storage Utilize Renewable Energy at Its Properties?

Yes, Extra Space Storage utilizes renewable energy at many of our facilities, and we're always looking for opportunities to reduce our energy consumption. In fact, we've completed solar energy installations at over 800 self storage properties across the nation—with more on the way.

Additionally, we're proud to participate in environmentally-friendly storage efforts like the New Jersey Community Solar Energy Program, which allows us to add more solar installations at our facilities to then power homes nearby at more affordable rates. Through this program, Extra Space Storage has generated 6.5 megawatts of renewable energy, eliminating thousands of tons of carbon emissions.
