Charleston Self Storage at 17939 Harrison Street Rd

I have used this place a total of three times now since my first review several years ago and I’ve loved every experience! The longest length of time we rented a unit was for almost two years when we moved away for work and the most recent time is this year (we just rented a unit a day ago actually). Each time I’ve never had an issue and everyone is always so nice. The only real change I’ve seen from a few years ago to now is a bit of an increase in prices but it’s not egregious. I think the increase is understandable and within reason, all things considered. And when I rented for nearly two consecutive years our rent only increased twice, but it wasn’t insane. It was worth it because when we got back our stuff was safe and all there. Side note, there’s always been a lot of dead insects (spiders and crickets mainly) but the good sign is that they’re dead. So it doesn’t bother us. Other things to note: there’s always been a one-time facility fee and you have to pay an additional amount for insurance if you don’t already have it (it starts at $11 as of January 2024). The facility is clean, they do a great job trying to keep the critters away (which can be difficult considering the location), and I was never worried about my belongings. Signing up for a locker on both occasions was easy and closing out my account (when I did the first time a year ago) was hassle free. There are no hidden fees but there is a one time facility fee when you first rent and you do have to pay for insurance through them (unless you have your own). Some other things to note: I do appreciate the amount of security there (cameras and a gate are on the property and you need a code to enter). Also, someone was always available when I called to sign up, close out or ask general questions, and each person was incredibly helpful and friendly. Finally, I did notice that they tend to be priced slightly higher than other locations in my area, however you don’t get the same amenities at other locations and it definitely is a “bang for your buck” if you’ll excuse the cliche. 10/10 recommend.

such an interesting set up process but it was quick and easy! facility nice and clean. a few bugs here and there but probably because it’s been empty for so long.

Seems safe for storage. Little expensive for what you need.
