I had one of the most frustrating experiences I’ve ever had with Extra Space Storage. I’ve been trying to rent a unit for over a week, and instead of a simple process, they managed to charge my account multiple times without properly setting anything up. First, they took $200 from my bank account and never refunded it. Then, I was told I could go in and pay $70 to rent a unit that same day, and that the previous charge would be refunded later. Instead of fixing the issue, they charged me AGAIN — bringing the total to almost $270 — and still couldn’t even complete a reservation. At this point, I’ve paid money for a service I never received, with no real resolution in sight. Being told “we’ll refund it later” is not a solution when you’re repeatedly charging someone’s account and not delivering what was promised. The only positive part of this entire experience was the employee at the front desk. He was extremely patient, kind, and genuinely tried to help. He handled the situation professionally and did everything he could within his limits — he honestly deserves recognition (and probably a raise) for how he dealt with such a mess. But the company itself? Completely unacceptable. Poor systems, poor communication, and zero accountability when it comes to customers’ money. I will not be returning, and I would strongly caution anyone considering doing business with them.
