I’ve been a customer at Extra Space Storage for a while, and I’m extremely disappointed with the recent changes. They added a large number of new storage units inside the building, but in doing so they eliminated about 6–8 parking spaces. Now there are only about four parking spaces for well over 100 units. This is a storage facility and people are constantly loading and unloading furniture, boxes, and other large items, often with trucks or trailers. With so little parking, it’s become incredibly difficult just to get my car into the building when I need to access my unit. It honestly feels like this decision was made solely to maximize profits by squeezing in more rental units, without any consideration for the customers who have already been renting there. Instead of improving the experience for existing customers, they’ve made it significantly worse. To make matters worse, they already increase your rent after just a few months. While I understand that rate increases can happen, it’s unreasonable to charge customers more while simultaneously making the facility much less accessible. If anything, rent should be reduced after taking away so much of the parking that’s essential for using the storage units. I hope management reconsiders this decision and starts prioritizing the experience of existing customers instead of just adding more units at the expense of basic accessibility.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention, Giselle. Your parking and rent concerns are valid. Please call us at (708) 929-1900 so we can address this directly.
