I’m going to be honest: I did not like my most recent experience here, especially considering that I have continued to be respectful and have even referred family members to this location. My main concern has been the rate increases. When I first noticed my rate had increased, I never made a big deal about it. I simply went into the office and asked about downsizing to a smaller unit to lower my monthly cost. During that process, it was actually brought to my attention that I had been paying significantly more, and after downsizing I had enough of a credit left over to cover an entire month. At the time, I was told that if I received another rate increase or had any other concerns, I could come into the office and we could work something out. I appreciated that and thought the situation had been handled professionally. When another rate increase happened, I eventually brought it up. Again, I was not rude or confrontational. The increased amount was waived for the previous month, but when I checked AutoPay afterward, I noticed the higher rate was still showing for the following month. Before my next payment was due, I went into the office simply to clarify what I was actually supposed to be paying because I thought we had already reached an understanding. That is where the interaction became unpleasant. During the conversation, a new tenant was brought up and I was told, in so many words, that the spot for my unit could have been filled by someone else with no problem. I felt that was unnecessary and extremely unprofessional to say to a paying customer who was simply asking a question about their rate. I could understand that type of frustration if I were constantly causing problems, paying late, or having ongoing payment issues, but that has not been the case. I pay on time, I’m barely at the facility, and all I wanted was a clean and secure place to keep my belongings. Experiences like this are exactly why I normally hesitate to speak up when something is bothering me. I wasn’t asking for special treatment—I was trying to understand my bill based on what had previously been discussed with me. Unfortunately, after this interaction, I don’t feel comfortable going out of my way to recommend this location anymore. I’ll be looking into other storage facilities where I may have a better experience. You never know what someone may be going through, and I believe paying customers should be able to ask reasonable questions about their bill without being made to feel as though their business is easily replaceable.
