Since 2018, I have utilized this storage facility with my family intermittently under the names of my mother and myself. Yesterday marked my final day of storage, as I have since relocated to a larger space. However, I am deeply distressed by an incident that occurred during my last month of storage on December 26th. I upgraded to a larger storage unit for my new residence on November 14th. Regrettably, my storage unit was locked for only one week during my absence. On the day of our move, a large glass sign that read “BLESSED” with lights all around it, which had been wrapped in a blanket, was missing. The movers did not notice the sign, despite the blanket being present. I left a voicemail for this location, stating that the sign was too large for someone to simply leave it and that it was in the back of my storage unit. My mother noticed that our storage looked different when it was locked and reopened, and she said those exact words in the beginning of December. However, we had been there before, so I thought it was because we moved stuff in the front. The cost of the sign was $1,000, and I had been using it for several years. I believe that a storage facility employee may have mistakenly assumed that the unit was locked and that the sign was free for removal. I have documented and have videos of my previous apartment, which were thoroughly cleaned. I am hopeful that the storage facility will promptly address this issue and take appropriate action. To prevent similar incidents in the future, I suggest that the facility implement measures such as installing security cameras inside or requiring customers to take photographs or videos of their storage units during the loading and unloading process. The large glass sign is highly visible and should not be overlooked.
