We had a small storage unit rented, everything normal and then needed more space so we moved our stuff into a medium size. Online it had the price listed a little over $100, and it ended up somehow coming out to $165. Fine, still seemed an okay price for the area, and out of convenience I ate that. Then I see the autopay took out $272, today, 4 months later. More than $100 increase, and when I called the only thing they said they could do for me is put in a request to bring it back down to $165 for one month, then it’ll go back to $272. Extra space already had a massive lawsuit settled a few months ago for similar things and it seems they haven’t learned. I’m moving my stuff out today, same day as the payment and will begin fighting for a refund, as well as reporting to the BBB and looking into a lawyer if I don’t receive the refund, out of principle. We originally rented from a different extra space storage in NY and had the same thing happened, shame on us for thinking a different location wouldn’t have the same shady business practices.
