I have rented my unit for almost 2 years. Recently the company was acquired and I received a phone call to let me know. I asked if my rent would increase, they assured me it would not. Today, I logged on to my account to find my rate had nearly doubled with no warning & I have been charged the increased rate the last 3 months. I called to see if there was a mistake and was told there was not. I signed a contract for my prior rate and did not sign a new contract for an increased nor was the increase communicated to me. In fact, 3ish months ago, I was assured my rate would stay the same. I have very little in the unit and would not have continued utilizing had I known I would be paying double. When I asked why no one called or emailed to inform me of an increase, I was told they sent it in the mail. I have never received anything by mail from them. Any time there has been an issue, I have received a phone call. I asked if they have proof they mailed anything- I was told yes. I asked to be emailed that proof because nothing certified has come to my house and I certainly haven’t signed for any mail. They offered one month credit which I declined. I was then told they would need to speak with their “big guy” because they only offer a one month credit to satisfy doubling a tenants’ rent without warning. Otherwise, the units are clean and nice. I just prefer a company that values transparency and communication.
