We rented a climate controlled unit at Extra Space Storage (ESS) in the dead of winter. Are you reading this going in to summer? Just flip hot for cold. We gave up an UN-heated unit in a brand new facility to move to ESS. The unheated unit had farmland around it and, although I could work/organize and physically function in below freezing cold, the wind was brutal and the short days made it bad after 4pm. Other plus/minus, the other facility was un-staffed but very secure. ESS is also secure AND staffed during business hours and they walk around and can respond, immediately, in person, to anything reported or seen on the facilities cameras. I love the phone app that opens the gate in the dead of winter. If you are not regularly out in the cold or heat...if your body is not acclimated...get a climate controlled unit. And listen up people, it is not worth driving miles to save a few dollars. Remember gas prices when picking a unit. I am glad we moved closer to home.
