Up until recently, I had no issues with Extra Space Storage. The facility is clean and seems to be well maintained and secure. Unfortunately, my experience with the pricing has completely changed my opinion. When I signed up, I was required to pay four months upfront at a rate of approximately $180 per month. Nowhere in the paperwork I received was it made clear to me that this was a temporary or promotional rate. As I approach the end of those first four months, I was just notified that my monthly rent will increase from approximately $180 to $280—an increase of more than 50% after only four months. This feels like an absolute bait-and-switch. Had I been told when signing up that my $180 rate could jump to $280 just four months later, I never would have chosen this facility in the first place. The facility itself has been perfectly fine, but I can't recommend a business when the pricing experience feels this misleading. I will be moving my belongings out of Extra Space Storage next month as a result.
