I'm not planning on sticking with Extra Space Storage much longer, just until I can get my stuff out of my unit. I started with my rent set at $87 a month for a large temperature controlled unit. That went up to $154 once my promotional period ended, which I wasn't super happy about, but it wasn't terrible. Lo and behold, in May we got heavy rain and I go up to the unit to make sure my stuff is ok. Turns out there's a leak in the roof right over my unit and they're just like "welp, that sucks for you, good thing you pay for insurance". Did they do anything to try and make it right? Nope, they just put me in another unit and that's the last I heard of it. I went back a few times over the next few days and they didn't even try to remove the water on the floor, they just left it there. A few months have passed and they still haven't even rented out those units. I happened to go by again after it rained the previous night and STILL saw water on the floor. And, by the way, one of the outside door locks on my building was broken for about 3 months. So, you can tell they don't care about maintenance. And after this crappy experience you might think "well, at least the rent isn't too terrible", except then they raised my rent to $234. From $87 to $234. I know most storage units are pretty much traps, but this was especially egregious. I will never do business with this company again after I get out of my unit and I've already been telling everyone I know not to as well.
