I rented a 5 / 10 in June. I got a letter in August by my email saying that they studied the market and they are raising the rent to adjust to market rates. My rent went from $45 dollars to $96. It's a bait and switch. Because you can go online and that same unit is even cheaper than $45. They know they're gonna get you in and you're not gonna wanna move in two months. Then they're gonna double your rate. And they think these idiots aren't wanting to move in and move all their stuff out in 2 months, so they're just gonna pay whatever we raise them. What a racket!! Especially in this economy, straight up highway robbery.. it's amazing the underhanded practices.
