I rented unit Extra Space Storage, 14518 Lee Rd., Chantilly in July 2026. When I recently went to remove belongings, I found numerous droppings in and around my stored property that appeared consistent with rodent activity. I raised the issue with the facility manager. During our conversation, the manager acknowledged that the facility had a rat infestation. I had not been informed of any rat or rodent infestation when I rented the unit. I am particularly concerned because customers store household goods here and may unknowingly move affected boxes and belongings into their homes or other facilities. I have photographs documenting what I observed. I have reported the matter to the appropriate Fairfax County authorities so they can determine whether an inspection or other action is warranted. Prospective renters may want to ask management specifically about any current or recent rodent problems before placing their belongings in storage.
