My storage rent nearly doubled after less than 6 months - from $105 to $205. That's a nearly 95% increase, and it's by far my biggest concern with Extra Space. I've rented four different units at this facility over the past two years, accessing them weekly. I've had plenty of opportunities to experience both the positives and negatives. On the positive side, the facility is centrally located and convenient to access. The driving and parking areas are generally clean and well-maintained, without trash, discarded belongings, or other clutter getting in the way. That's something I appreciate, especially as a frequent customer. However, the quality of individual units varies considerably. Some doors operate smoothly, while others stick, squeak, or are simply difficult to open and close. It might seem like a minor detail, but when you're accessing your unit regularly, poor door quality makes a noticeable difference. My advice is to inspect your unit carefully and report any maintenance issues immediately. But the real issue is the pricing model. I understand introductory rates and reasonable increases. Imagine renting an apartment for $1,500 per month, only to be told six months later that your rent is increasing to $3,000. That's essentially the scale of the increases I've experienced here. Now imagine you're storing your belongings during a move, a family transition, or another difficult situation. Suddenly, you're faced with paying nearly double or finding the time, money, and help to move everything again. And this is not an isolated incident. I've rented four separate units at this location, and every single one has experienced an increase approaching or exceeding 100%. Four units, four substantial increases. At that point, it's difficult to view this as an occasional pricing adjustment. Extra Space Storage should seriously reconsider this pricing practice or, at minimum, be far more transparent about what customers can expect beyond the introductory period. My recommendation: If you're considering Extra Space Storage for anything beyond a few months, don't budget around the advertised price. You may find yourself paying nearly twice that amount much sooner than you expect. EDIT (In response to Extra Space Storage): This response misses the point. Ive experienced rent increases approaching or exceeding 100% across four separate units. This is not an isolated customer service issue that requires an account review; it's a repeated pricing practice. Directing customers to a phone number does nothing to address the underlying concern. The issue isn't my individual account - it's the pricing model that places customers in the position of either accepting dramatic increases or bearing the burden of moving their belongings elsewhere. That deserves transparency and accountability, not some generic customer service response.
