Extra Space Storage has never overhauled its branding. However, the signature green color of Extra Space Storage has evolved alongside the brand, reflecting its identity and mission.

The original logo, dating back to the 1977 founding, used a dark forest green gradient. In the 1980s, the logo was redesigned into its distinctive football shape and featured a solid dark green background to emphasize "storage" as a concept. A later evolution featured a bold evergreen forest color to represent prosperity and security.

Finally, in 2013, the brand updated its color to a bright, modern wasabi green. This intentional change was meant to reflect the company’s clean, bright facilities and its goal to help customers through life transitions toward a "better and brighter tomorrow," symbolizing growth, progress, and opportunity.
