I’ve rented storage space from ExtraSpace(formerly called Valley Storage) for approximately 17 years(give or take). We had one rate ($173) the entire time until this month (July 2024). I had prepaid 6 months in advance and called to find out when my next payment was due; in that call I was told that the rate had been jacked apx. $80 and was now at $253. I asked two staff members Tina, and Cruz, to speak to the management on my behalf. I felt the rate hike was not only unethical, but also not communicated. The first communication to management resulted in Extra Space bringing the rate down $40. I called back again requesting the original rate. Two days later I received a call indicating the original rate was in place. These days, storage facilities are generally owned by a group of investors who buy several properties, outfit them beautifully as storage space, draw a customer in with low monthly rates, have the customer sign a 12 page contract (for a storage unit- not a house or complex business, a small storage unit) and then every 4 months or so jack the rate 25% or more. Its aggressive and unethical yet labeled “legal”. For the moment, it appears that ExtraSpace has done the right thing by choosing the customer over their investor’s bottom line. Thank you to Tina and Cruz for making the experience with ExtraSpace palatable. When ExtraSpace was Valley Storage, the entire staff was helpful, personable, and honest; I appreciate that Tina and Cruz were professional, respectful, and followed through on communications. Recently had to find storage space for some things that were making the garage too full. We had booked elsewhere, but I didn’t feel like I was getting a great deal. So I reached out here and have found a bigger storage locker for less price and have had the luck to work with Tina the manager here who is amazing! The location seems safe and the air cooled storage is obviously a big help in our Arizona heat. I would recommend extra space storage to anybody who is looking for a storage space.

Tina addressed all my immediate concerns as well as helping me organize the ways in which the storage bills will be handled in the future..

All the staff were so helpful.. they have great dolly carts to use and many of them.. when I initially first set up for a unit, the lady was very understanding and accommodating. The only thing that would unfortunately have me choose a different location is the hours of operation. It has set me back far on everything else I have to get done but I could see it working out for majority of people, otherwise, great facility
