**DO NOT STORE GEAR ON THE FIRST FLOOR** Please read: Roger, the manager is great. Thanks Roger! He has been there for many years. During the time I have been there, I mainly stored my gear on the first floor. DO NOT store your gear on the first floor. Let me repeat this, the first floor is especially vulnerable for various reasons to attack and no amount of security is necessarily going to help with that. Importantly, the first floor vulnerability is NOT simply due to its proximity to the entrance. It is inconvenient to ride the slow elevators up and down, but believe me the effort is worth it. Secondly, your rates will go up after the three month cheap pricing. And they go up a lot. There's nothing Roger can do about that. It's a corporate policy, but it can it get expensive. That being said the units are immaculate. Also, they never seem to run out of the little Rolly carts that everybody steals. Very nice! in addition to two thefts to my units on the first floor, there was a leak from a fire Sprinkler that was intentionally set on the top Floor that damaged a lot of things. That being said, Extra Space Storage was very good about cleaning things up and mold And moisture mitigation. They put up the gate last year and more recently they have seriously upgraded their security to 24 hour video Monitoring. They have had no problem since that time. According to Roger, this is a very sophisticated and expensive system, so I'm really glad they finally put that in. In summary, this is an OK place store your goods. Just do not store them on the first floor. Get the extra lock, the cylinder locks are easy to punch out from the Inside. And finally, most critically, GET RENTERS INSURANCE on all your items and photograph them as they go In. The more accurate your documentation, the better. I Recommend State Farm - they're great and by the way, renters insurance is insanely cheap. Seriously, it's like 100 bucks a month. Any especially weird or valuable items (for instance, a medieval clock) need to be photographed and their value documented. You paid 600$ for it, keep the receipt, copy it and deliver it to the agent. That vintage vespa worth 10,000$, your collection of rare jazz LPs - document it. Don't just write a note saying what it's worth, have the stuff evaluated. I had a 1974 Lambretta Scooter (Mint!) that I retained the dealer documentation and State Farm paid it, no problem. If your shit gets nabbed, you will thank yourself a million times over for these actions. The insurance they offer at Extra Space is not very good so don't go overboard on that, just take the $11 month insurance. Finally, in spite of all this, I would NEVER after my experiences here store things that are high in sentimental value. Just don't take the chance then you won't have To worry about it. Get insurance! ?? PS: I had to re-edit this, because the post below mine shows exactly why you do not want to store your stuff on the first floor! Take a look at that and you will see the vulnerability immediately.

Jonas & Caitlynne were awesome! They made transferring to another unit simple and stress free :) I really appreciated Jonas for explaining all of my options and making sure I knew key pieces of information from my new lease.

Called and spoke with Jonas, he helped reserve a unit. I spent a little time thinking it over, during which I didn't receive any intrusive follow-ups. I ultimately decided to sign the week after reserving my unit. After signup, you need to stop by to show physical proof of ID. Stopped by to do this and took maybe five minutes. Jonas gave me a quick tour of what to do / where to go, showed me my new unit, and answered any questions I had. Building a unit are clean, only about 7 years old I was told. Overall, a good experience to start. Definitely recommend looking here if you need extra storage (HA!) at a reasonable rate. I'm looking forward to getting some space back in my sub-900 sqft house!
