I’ve been a customer at this storage facility for approximately two years, and my recent experience with the manager, Paloma, has been extremely disappointing. Last month, I questioned why my monthly rate had increased to approximately 2.5 times what I originally paid. After raising that concern, I discovered that my unit had been taken off automatic billing. I don’t understand why my autopay was changed, especially without a clear explanation. As a long-term customer with belongings stored here, that is very concerning. The facility itself has changed ownership three times in the two years I’ve been here. There was also a break-in last year involving approximately 20 units. My understanding at the time was that vehicles were able to follow other vehicles through the gate, which raised serious security concerns for me. What is even more frustrating is the pricing. After reviewing my account and seeing that I’ve been a customer for two years, Paloma offered me only a $20 discount. Meanwhile, a new customer can apparently rent the same type of unit for approximately $160 LESS than what I’m being charged. Where is the loyalty or consideration for existing customers? When I asked to speak with her manager because I was unhappy with how the situation was being handled, Paloma told me she was the only manager. I explained that Extra Space Storage is a corporation and that I wanted to speak with someone above the facility level. She eventually stated that she would have someone contact me. My biggest issue is not simply the price increase—it’s the way a long-term customer was treated when asking reasonable questions about billing, pricing, and their account. I expect professionalism, transparency, and respectful customer service, especially when a company is responsible for storing thousands of dollars' worth of a customer's personal belongings. After two years of being a paying customer, this experience has made me seriously question whether I should continue storing my belongings here.
