Probably the first negative review I’ve left a place. The storage unit I was renting for 80$ while doing seasonal work shot up to 200$ after a few months. I called and was told a request to lower the amount would be put in and I would be notified within a day-to a few days. Two weeks later I called back to check and was met with a very short attitude from the manager. No acknowledgment that so much time had passed and she sounded like she really couldn’t care less to be taking this call. I have found other staff to be really kind and helpful whenever I had questions or help, but the manager of this spot has always spoken to me in a very overly familiar and rude tone. A few months ago I left my lock open by accident when I moved in, and got a call at work that actually shocked me. The manager demanded I come that very instant, and I said I couldn’t do that because I was working. She sounded disgruntled, calling me “sweetie,” and told me (not asked) when I would be there so I can “be shown how to lock up correctly.” Manager got an attitude when I again told her I could not be there at that time as I was working. Despite me apologizing for the open lock and explaining that I do know how to use it- and that it was a mistake to have left it unlocked, I had to try hard to stay polite on the phone while the manager spoke to me like a disgruntled older relative who is doing me a favor rather than the manager of a business I am paying a service for. I will admit that this was my second time accidentally leaving the lock open, and remember feeling bad for the worker who was kind about it the first time when she warned me that the manager can be very particular. We’ve all had a hellacious manager and the message was clear. The manager is a hassle to deal with. I’ve spent most of my adult life in some way shape or form working with the public, and find it pretty shocking when I make sure I speak to fellow service staff in the least Karen way possible, and am met with what I’m assuming is another persons uncontrollable projection of their personal misery. I’m sure the whole of the staff would appreciate a little therapy on her part. Maybe a little corn hole if she needs some excitement or to throw something! God bless
