**Robbed at Extra Space Storage** Update: go to Facebook. It seems to be a trend around the United States with this company. Search for shot and forgot. Gentleman talks about extra space storage in Austin, Texas. Then he does some investigate work. Several storage unit were robbed, and I am extremely disappointed with how Extra Space Storage handled the situation. Clients were told that there was nothing they could do regarding the security cameras, and they refused to investigate or review the footage to try to identify who was responsible. After such a serious security incident, I would expect the facility to provide some assistance or at least make a genuine effort to investigate what happened. Instead, nope. People chose a storage facility expecting our belongings to be reasonably secure. Having property stolen is bad enough, but the lack of assistance afterward has made the experience even worse. I strongly encourage anyone considering Extra Space Storage to research the facility's security history and read reviews carefully before storing their belongings there.

I am also among the 15 units broken into at this location. I would likely feel better about it if there were more answers about when, who, and how this happened but I was instead given a lot of, "We aren't sure," responses with regards to the event. Break-ins may have been occurring up to a month ago; there is no footage and no other info. There were equally no assurances on how to keep my items secure going forward. The individuals who broke in likely went over the top of the unit and cut the lock from behind. I feel this is confirmed by the pieces of my lock found in my unit. Because of the responses (or lack thereof), I no longer feel safe and do not plan to maintain a unit here and I equally cannot recommend this location to anyone. I do want to recognize that the staff in the front office are extremely polite, but politeness does not keep my items secured.

22 Sept 26: I was notified my indoor unit was broken into along with several other units throughout the facility. Someone climbed over the interior walls that separate the units and unbolted the door locks from the inside. I asked if the police were called / Answer: No, there was no damage to our facility so we didn’t call them I asked if they have video of the theft / Answer: “We did not review the video because we do not know when it happened” Website: “SAFE & SECURE Enjoy peace of mind while storing what’s precious. We’ll take care of your stuff as if it were our own.” 24 Sep 26 To ExtraSpace - Thank you for the public apology. What actions are you taking to investigate the incident and what actions are taken to prevent future incidents?
