My transition to signing up for Extra Space Storage after the company took over my old storage facility was a cinch. Some minor steps needed completion but my old account was fully integrated into my new profile. The company was and is 100% transparent about their operation and the new manager of the facility, Josh was very helpful and upfront about everything. No hidden cost, no hidden fees, gracious in helping me to transition from my old account and all around professional. I look forward to working with the company moving forward. The facility is top notch by the way and very clean.

I was a loyal customer at extra storage for over 3 years, then extra storage dramatically increased my monthly rent without notice from $195 for a 10x10 to $255. I have since moved out and currently pay $70 for a 10x10 unit with Public Storage nearly 1.25 miles away. Also, extra storage does not credit back or pro-rate any payment if paid in advance once you move out and end your lease earlier than planned. Do not recommend utilizing extra storage. There have been multiple instances where the elevators have been down for months (3-5) months inconveniencing customers leading to having to wait excessively long durations to use a singular elevator. This happened during the spring and summer months when most people in the Northern VA area are moving and storing personal items. Both elevators are extremely slow. Management is really around to address questions/requests. There is an awful smell of odor on at the second entrance that seeps throughout the entire building. In addition, there are multiple landscaping business that store heaving equipment, gasoline and other flammables. During the colder months there have been massive ice sheets covering the parking lot and walkways 3 days after a storm making it treacherous to walk around. Management didn’t treat the walk-ways. How does a facility that constantly raises rent on its tenants not have the funds to de-ice its parking lot? For those reasons and due to a general apathy from management, I cannot recommend the facility. Recommend other providers in the Northern VA area. Rent at your own risk!
