Frequently Asked Questions
Can I Work on a Car in a Storage Unit?
You cannot work on a car in a storage unit at any Extra Space Storage location. This goes against our vehicle storage guidelines. We require all vehicles stored at our self storage facilities to be in working condition. Additionally, we do not allow our storage units to be used as workshops.
Other vehicle requirements you must follow when renting car storage with Extra Space Storage include:
Current registration and proof of insurance is required.
Wheels must be in good, working condition.
Vehicles must be driven into the storage unit, not towed or stored on blocks.
Any tags that expire while in storage should be renewed.
Tires must be inflated and inspected for signs of dry rot.
Remove as much gasoline from the fuel tank as possible before storing.
Car covers are recommended for outside storage and may be required for unsightly vehicles.
Tire locks and tie downs are allowed for additional security.
