Frequently Asked Questions

Can you store a motorcycle in a storage unit?

You can store a motorcycle in a storage unit at Extra Space Storage facilities where indoor vehicle storage is allowed. We offer small vehicle storage at many of our storage locations across the U.S.

Most motorcycles can fit inside drive-up access units designated for vehicle storage use, typically with 5x10 storage unit sizes and larger. Before you rent a drive-up storage unit for your motorcycle, we recommend measuring the dimensions of your bike to understand how much space is needed for storage. You can also use our Vehicle Storage Size Estimator tool!

Also, keep in mind that Extra Space Storage does have vehicle storage requirements:

  • All vehicles placed in storage must have their wheels in proper working condition.

  • Vehicles must be driven into the storage unit, not towed or stored on blocks.

  • Vehicles must have current registration and proof of insurance.

  • If any tags expire during storage, they should be renewed.

  • Tires must be inflated and inspected for signs of dry rot.

  • Drain as much gasoline as possible from the fuel tank.

  • No major maintenance or repairs are allowed inside the storage unit.
