Can I Access My Storage Unit if My Balance is Past Due?

If payment is declined or automatic payment fails, the system will attempt to run your card for up to three days. If it still doesn't go through, you have a five-day grace period from your original due date to update your card and pay before late fees are charged and the lockout procedures below are put into effect. Until your outstanding balance is paid in full, the facility will restrict your access in three main ways:

• Denied entry: Your regular gate code access will be deactivated.

• Over-locking: Extra Space Storage will place a physical lock of its own on your unit (called an "over-lock"), preventing you from opening it.

• No partial access: You cannot make partial payments to get temporary access—the entire balance must be paid to restore your entry.
